It was on a somewhat clouded day that I decided to wander the streets of Ubud in the hope of stumbling upon a cafe or restaurant that would quench the growing thirst for my latest craving, fresh young coconut. Strolling down the Jalan Monkey Forest road, I discovered Folk.
Inspired by the stories and culture of the Gianyar province, Folk is a “Rumah Makan”, celebrating the imperfections of Masyarakat life through art and design. The traditional is cleverly merged with the modern refinements of today, creating a charming clash of cultures. It’s an excellent venue for working, entertaining or simply catching up with friends!
The menu has you covered for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and hosts a whole range of inventive nutritious dishes that include vegan, gluten free and vegetarian options.
Follow the path down the side of the restaurant and you’ll discover another artfully decorated eating area, complete with pool, swim-up bar and beautiful four poster style beds. Folk has also considered those of us that like to move in groups, and have built an outside covered terrace area covered in intertwining vines and fairy lights for the best day-to-night entertainment space.
Folk Ubud Pool & Gardens is open from 10am – 9pm daily. It costs 50k IDR per person for poolside entry for the day. Heading to Bali? Tag us in your photos #jiminymagazine!
